Cyberattacks on hospitals are multiplying, endangering patient data, continuity of care and biomedical innovation. Yet these risks are not new: as early as 2019, our book « Les systèmes d'information et la santé : l'intégrité en question » (Information Systems and Health: Integrity in Question; Dupressoir, 2019) was already analysing the systemic weaknesses of hospitals in the face of new forms of digital threat — growing exposure to cyberattacks, the risk of lost opportunity for patients when critical systems are paralysed by ransomware, and the impact on clinical research and biomedical innovation.
Today we offer practical solutions: deploying cybersecurity strategies specific to hospital infrastructure, protecting critical medical systems, setting up cybersecurity monitoring centres dedicated to the healthcare sector, and training hospital professionals in good practice.
